About Us

Poor Women Support Organization (PWSO)

The Poor Women Support Organization (PWSO) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in 2017 under License No. 4203, at the Ministry of Economy, Afghanistan. Founded by a group of dedicated young professionals, PWSO was created with a clear vision: to build an educated, aware society free from poverty and illiteracy — laying the foundation for a peaceful, prosperous, and sustainable future where no one is left behind. Our work focuses on women's health, education, rights, economic empowerment, agriculture & climate change, and research across Afghanistan.

Mission

PWSO's mission is to implement social, welfare, women empowerment, health and research projects which contribute towards an educated, peaceful, socially and economically developed Afghanistan — Driving Change from the Ground Up.

Vision

Building Resilient & Self-Reliant Communities. Our vision is stretching and we believe it will take decades to achieve in Afghanistan. We are determined and holding ourselves accountable with clear, measurable goals — strengthening our commitment to the people we serve today and in the future.

At PWSO, our mission goes beyond delivering programs — we work to restore dignity, opportunity, and hope to Afghan women and vulnerable communities. Founded in 2017, our team of dedicated professionals is committed to building an educated, peaceful, and self-reliant Afghanistan. We believe that local problems require local solutions, and that lasting change comes from grassroots empowerment, transparency, and unwavering ethical standards. Together with our donors and partners, we are determined to make a real difference — today and for generations to come.

What We Are Doing

Poor Women Support Organization

Health

Humanitarian and developmental services for people in need. PWSO plays a leading role in transforming the humanitarian sector by putting gender at the center of our responses.

Education

One of our primary Advancing women's economic and social development through vocational training, microfinance, entrepreneurship, and safe spaces — promoting gender equality and leadership.

Economic Empowerment

We strengthen community health systems through capacity building, provision of materials and supplies, and the supportive supervision of community health workers.

Engineering, WASH & ES/NFI

Expanding access to schooling, literacy, vocational training, and community learning centers — with a focus on women, girls, and out-of-school children across Afghanistan.

Agriculture & Climate Change

Through advocacy, individuals are able to foster a sense of community and solidarity in order to promote their cause to the wider public.


Food Security & Livelihood

Every kid has the right to be free from all types of abuse, exploitation, and violence. Therefore, it is the obligation of PWSO to guarantee the safety of children in all of its projects, activities, and policies.

Research & MEAL

PWSO’s target is to achieve a level of sustainable community development with respect to gender equality, in a context of good governance and decentralization, and where the majority of the population has access to basic social services.

Women Empowerment

PWSO’s leadership are consisted of like-minded people, united on the basis of shared vision of gender justice. Its leadership comprises women rights activists, with background of active struggle for social justice and women empowerment in Afghanistan.
